This is just...uhm...
It's dark. I think she might have just killed someone.
Photoshop CS2. No print coming...just wanted to put something out, and I felt like creating tonight. I had SERIOUS fun painting in that hair - I used a few brushes, but they're mine.

I found this Deviation of yours at random, as part of my volunteer participation in Project 5-3, an initiative by the Group "Project Inspire."
Comment: It's really very interesting!
She "blends" with the background because of the close luminescence levels. As well, the "softness" of her hair you painted lends its wispiness to the wispy background--anohter "blend."
In contrast, the extremely bright patch behind her makes the fact "stand out" that she, for whatever reason, is in the odd position of being thigh-deep in waters. Which immediately raises the question: "Why is she there?"
There is the sense that there's something we don't know. Perhaps, indeed, as you said: "[S]he might have just killed someone."
