So here's the deal with the name change.

I have NEVER used my legal name - I was Nicco in grade school, Nicole in junior high and high school, and I've been Lona since then.

My first and middle names, in case anyone's interested, are legally Ilona Nicholle. I've never used my legal name...it's almost a tradition in my family, actually, to name yourself and to change your name as your life changes.

Therefore, I AM now going to use my legal name for the simple reason that my life has changed. A LOT. When I decided on Lona Nichelle by dropping the I in my name and changing an O to an E, I was in a COMPLETLY different place, and I was trying to make a living freelancing and needed a name seperate from the things I'd done before, and seperate from my father so I wouldn't be known as his daughter - my father is a local celebrity.

I'm now in a totally different place. I'm thinking about law school. I'm getting REAL grades and focusing on school and long term plans, rather than rushing into everything headfirst and hoping something huge happens that'll make it all work. I'm growing up...and it's time I settled on something that I can live with for the rest of my life and BE...something that IS me.

Ilona Nicholle is who I am now, so it's what I'm going to use from here out. I LOVE the name Lona, and since it's also a nickname for Ilona (pronounced Ill-ah-nah. Nicholle is pronounced Nicole. Don't even ask why they got spelled that way. It's too long a story...it'd kill the DA servers. ), so I'll be using Lona as a nickname. But my formal signature will now be my full, proper first name: Ilona. I finally feel like I can BE that name...and so I'm going to be.
